Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

PPE is an essential part of health and safety, and most regulations now say that when carrying out certain tasks, PPE must be used. PPE stands for Personal Protective Equipment and ranges from ear protection to steel toe boots. It is the responsibility of the employer to make sure that all staff are issued with the correct PPE and that they use it as and when directed.

The range of PPE available means that there is no task that cannot be tackled – everybody can find what they need to protect themselves as much as possible while they are working.

Coveralls are ideal for those who are working in industries where they might spill something on themselves. Painters and decorators, for example, need to protect their clothes from paint, while laboratory technicians might need to protect themselves from all kinds of chemicals. The stud front coverall has chest pockets, a pen pocket and elasticated waistband. The zip front version also has similar pockets and comes in a range of colours and sizes to suit all requirements. Disposable overshoes are not the most attractive things to wear but they are necessary when trying not to contaminate certain areas. Aseptic rooms for example, should be protected as much as possible from bacteria. Overshoes are ideal for this and are easy to put on and remove. Earplugs and other accessories can also protect workers from potential health risks while they are working.
