- The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive is a European regulation that strives to maximise recycling of electrical goods. Any manufacturer, importer, exporter or distributor of goods that are covered by the directive should make sure the products are labelled with a standardised crossed out wheelie bin symbol in order to encourage people not to throw them in the general waste.
