Safety Equipment Batteries

The humble battery might not immediately seem like an essential piece of safety equipment - but the fact is that it really is.

Employers are obliged under the 1974 Health and Safety at Work Act to provide a well-managed working environment for their staff. If you've let the batteries in your smoke alarms go flat, or an employee urgently needs to inspect some equipment to detect a potentially hazardous fault, but finds that the batteries in the torch needed to see what's wrong have leaked and died, you've failed to honour that obligation.

Batteries power safety essentials like these, along with communication tools like radios, and they're in use in just about every office, warehouse, factory, hospital, school, etc. That means they'll need to be regularly replaced. Thankfully, SafetyShop.com has a wide range of economical and easy-to-order batteries on offer to meet this need.

Even if you've invested in an excellent range of safety and security equipment, you'll get no value out of them if they need battery power to function and you've let them go flat.

Imagine how frustrating it is for an employee working in harsh weather conditions to find that the heavy duty waterproof torch needed for seeing a hazardous or potential fault on a piece of equipment doesn't fire up? Or that the expensive fire and security alarms you've bought are useless because the batteries have drained?

SafetyShop.com can come to the rescue. We supply a broad range of commonly used batteries designed for use in safety and security equipment. Flat batteries need never compromise your employees and your premises again!

Our range of products comes from tried and tested, market-leading manufacturers - and as you'll see, we offer very competitive prices.

To be technical for a moment; a battery is an electrochemical package encased in protective material that releases an electrical charge on demand through inner chemical reactions, or provides a static potential for power. Chemical energy, in other words, gets converted in a battery into electricity which is then used as a source of power. Batteries are essentially protective containers holding electrochemical reactions inside them that convert chemical energy into electrical energy that can then be used to provide power to a broad range of electrical devices. Different electrochemical reactions using different materials are used in different types of battery. At SafetyShop.com, we supply the most widely used batteries designed to power safety and security equipment.

We won't wander into the dizzying variety of different batteries on offer these days, safe to say that there really is a mind-boggling diversity of different types using a variety of chemicals and materials to function.

At SafetyShop.com, you'll find a selection of the most commonly used batteries at economical prices.

Buying Guide

Our Duracell Procell Industrial Batteries aren't available on the high street, but they're a superior product delivering consistent, reliable performance on a long-term basis for a large variety of devices. They come in packs of 10 and are available in all the most commonly used sizes (AA, AAA, C, D and PP3 9V).

For those who need a rugged battery with a little more brawn - say, to power communication and radio equipment - our 6 Volt Type PJ996 Battery is just what the doctor ordered. These chunky heavy-duty batteries are also commonly used in portable lanterns and torches.

If you find that zinc carbon batteries run out of steam too quickly, try our Alkacell Super Alkaline Batteries, which outlive them by a factor of six times. They're the perfect solution for devices that need a high current drain when in continuous or intermittent use. Again, these items are available in each of the most widely used sized (AA, AAA, C, D, PP3 9V)

As far as rechargeable batteries go, Duracell Rechargeable NiMH Batteries are true market leaders, capable of more than 1000 recharges and lasting as much as 40 per cent longer than regular nickel-cadmium varieties. The chargers never overheat, so the batteries are spared heat damage during recharging. Each battery comes with an LED indicator which shows when charging is complete. The AA, AAA, C and D versions typically have a 7-hour charge time, while 12-hours are required for the PP3 9V version.

You'll need a Duracell Rechargeable Ni-MH Charger when you purchase these items, which we also supply.

Let's return to that Heavy Duty Waterproof Torch we referred to earlier (which we also supply, incidentally). With a Unilite Battery Charger to hand, your employee will never find him - or herself in that kind of predicament again. This rugged little charger, made from tough ABD plastic resin, plugs into any domestic mains socket and will keep the batteries in that Heavy Duty Waterproof Safety Torch fully and reliably charged.

The rechargeable batteries for lantern torches can be conveniently re-charged from any mains socket. But that option isn't available if it's running on fumes and your employee is out on the road. That's where our durable Unilite Vehicle Recharger comes to the rescue. Made from robust ABS plastic resin, it plugs in to any standard vehicle cigarette lighter.

Neglecting to replace rechargeable batteries for your fire and security systems can endanger your staff, your premises and inventory. Our sealed lead Alarm Battery (with five-year warranty) suits all these applications. Robustly protected against electrolyte leakage, this battery has deep discharge recovery and can be used in any orientation. In addition, it's independently tested, giving superb results.

If your employees depend on calculators, digital clocks, hand held probes and meters, and so on, you'll need a good supply of the high energy lithium coin batteries needed to power them. Our non-rechargeable 3V CR2032 Batteries will do the job admirably. Supplied in packs of 5.

The last thing you need is for the alarm on one or more of your business vehicles to fail, or for the key fob remote control to go dead. Stocking up on a good supply of the12V 23A-C5 Alkaline Batteries that power both will spare you this inconvenience (they're commonly used in a broad range of electronic devices and it's a wise policy not to run out of them). Supplied in packs of 4.

SafetyShop.com can supply the most widely used batteries for common applications in workplaces at highly competitive prices, and if you put in a regular order you'll never have to worry about that smoke alarm going flat again.
