Slips, trips and falls account for around 38% (10,835) of major workplace injuries each year. This means one slip or trip accident every three minutes and every hour someone breaks a bone at work. This equates to a cost to employers of over £500 million.

Workplace Health, Safety & Welfare Regulations 1992
These regulations are to maintain a clean workplace. As far as is reasonably practicable, every floor in a workplace and the surface of every traffic route in a workplace shall be kept free from obstructions and from any article or substance which may cause a person to slip, trip or fall.

Management ofHealth & Safety at Work Regulations 1999
Under these regulations an employer has a duty to assess risks (including slip and trip risks) and ensure the workplace is a safe environment for employees and anyone visiting the premises.
