If you operate fork-lift trucks in a warehouse environment, it is important that you comply with Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992. While there is no specific legislation that requires the use of pallet rack edge protectors, their use is recommended in the Health & Safety Executive Document HSG76, which states that "where it is likely that pallet racking be struck by lift-trucks, protection should be provided".
Don’t forget, damage to uprights increases the possibility that the racking could collapse, causing injury or even death. Therefore, should an accident occur, the Health and Safety Executive will look at the provision of racking protectors in their report.
To ensure you don’t fall foul of the regulations and to protect your staff from injury, you should look to install pallet racking edge protectors, especially on the most vulnerable aisle corner uprights in a run of racking.
Our pallet rack edge protectors are designed to protect your racking from accidental lift-truck incursions. They are made from 6mm heavy duty steel, and powder-coated in high visibility yellow with black chevrons. These replaceable protectors provide both a visible navigation point for fork-lift truck operators and protect your racking from accidental damage.
They can be easily fitted to the floor of your warehouse, using our optional fixing bolts. Expert fitting is not required, but you will need to drill holes in the floor of your facility using a heavy duty drill.
These pallet rack protectors form part of our impact protectors and guards range, which provides a number of different impact protection and traffic calming measures that can help prevent fork-lift truck and other vehicle accidents in the workplace.
